Lillian Patricia Allen Johnson is the daughter of Matthew and Lucinda Allen. While living in Detroit, she attended Balch Elementary, Garfield Junior High, and Northern High Schools. She later obtained a H.S. degree in Social Administration from Wilberforce University, a social work master's degree from Wayne State University, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University.
